Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? ... His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength… But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:27-31).
The above verses tell us how the Lord laments through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “My children (Jacob! Israel!), are you grumbling thinking that your way is hidden from Me and I have not known you and heard you?” Further, He says, “It is impossible for you to fathom My wisdom and My understanding. That is why, you are questioning My ways. My children! Stop questioning Me! And start waiting on Me! You can never ever fathom My wisdom and understanding. Therefore, what should you do? You should simply wait at My feet so that I can do something for you”
Now, let us spend some time and meditate on what the Lord will do and how He will bless us when we wait on Him:
WAIT ON THE LORD ALONE
“Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14)
The Psalmist did not say, “Wait on the Lord also” but clearly said, “Wait on the Lord alone” When we wait on the Lord, He gives us a new heart. Then, we will not think like the people of this world but we will think according to the will of our Lord. The people of the world say, “I have become weak! My body and my organs are damaged! My family has crumbled! My children are always sick and struggling! I have no job! I have no money! I have no hope about my future!” But, do you know what our loving God says? He says, “My son! My daughter! You don’t think like the world. You just wait on Me! Then, I will give you the grace to think and to trust as I think and as I trust.”
As said in Hebrews 11, when we focus our full attention on the will of God for us, our physical ailments cannot harm us. Yes! We may have knee pain but it cannot stop us from kneeling and praying or we may suffer from severe headache but it can never prevent us from making our supplications to our loving Lord! This is how we overcome our physical ailments and continue to pray in the presence of our God. We call this soaring higher and higher!
