Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences at Coimbatore has recently been accredited as Karunya University by the University Grants
Commission.
At present, the university offers eight B.E. courses, three B.Tech programmes and fourteen
M.E. courses, apart from MBA, MCA and Ph.D.courses.
The Karunya University is the outcome of the vision given by God to Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran. In the year 1981, as
Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran was in prayer with fasting the Lord spoke to him with the voice distinct and clear that said, "My son you
shall establish a place of learning all my people! So I have said, So shall I do it, Let not anything deter you. The fervour
of the Lord shall do it. And no man can stop it!".
And this vision of the Lord came into reality in the year 1986 as the college started to function with a mere 200 students
today it has become the University with nearly 4600 students pursuing studies in different subjects of Engineering,
Management studies and the Information Technology Courses. The main vision of Karunya
University is to raise professionals of high academic calibre and excellent character who would be placed in the higher echelons of society and
serve the needs of humanity with a heart of compassion. Every activity at Karunya is so designed to fulfil this grand vision.
OBJECTIVES:
The main objective of the University is to assist the students in their quest for knowledge and their exploration for true
relationship with God and fellow beings. It endeavours to provide the students with:
a) the best infrastructure and teaching faculty to train students to become academically excellent to suit the demands of the
employing agencies in order for them to be placed in high levels in the nation and abroad,
b) to have programs and training systems to mould the character of each student for them to be well disciplined and for high
ethical standards to be imbibed in them,
c) to offer value education to the students to inculcate the highest values of human life in order to attain the nature and
power of GOD to enable them to love and care for one's brethren and the under privileged in the society.
