'The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.' (Isaiah 60:22)

When you think of God, what comes to mind first? Yes, He is the Almighty One (Genesis 17:1) He is the King of all the earth (Psalm 47:7). He is enthroned forever (Psalm 102:12). He calls into existence the things that do not exist (Romans 4:17). His truth reaches to the skies (Psalm 108:4). By His words, the heavens were made (Psalm 33:6). He rides upon the highest heavens (Psalm 68:33). His understanding is unsearchable (Isaiah 40:28). The earth is His and everything in it (Psalm 24:1). His voice is powerful and majestic, and like the sound of many waters (Psalm 29:4; Ezekiel 43:2). His understanding is infinite (Psalm 147:5). He changes times and seasons (Daniel 2:21). A thousand years in His sight are as one day (Psalm 90:4). His faithfulness is to all generations (Psalm 100:5). He is great in power (Job 37:23). He is great in counsel and mighty in deed (Jeremiah 32:19). He is the Great Physician (Isaiah 53:5). He heals broken hearts (Psalm 147:3). He is greater than the giants we face in this world (I John 4:4). His name is great and His hand is mighty (I Kings 8:42). He is to be feared and greatly to be praised (I Chronicles 16:25). He alone does great wonders (Psalm 136:4).

In short, everything about Jesus, the Lord, is great! Yet, He is slow to anger (Nahum 1:3). He dwells with the humble (Isaiah 57:15). He lifts up all who are bowed down (Psalm 145:14). His compassions never fail (Lamentations 3:22). His love is great and He is rich in mercy (Ephesians 2:4). He never sleeps (Psalm 121:3). He richly blesses (Isaiah 63:7). There is none like Him (Psalm 86:8). Whatever He does, endures forever (Ecclesiates 3:14). He gives peace and life, and rest from labour (Romans 8:5; Job 6:37). He turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11), and makes everything new (Revelation 21:5).

History proves God as the One who redeems and restores. 'The thunder of His power, who can understand?' asks a pious man of God named Job in the Bible, who was very wealthy but lost everything only to regain it all later by finding favour with God. Psalm 34:15 says that God's eyes are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their cry. God's eyes, which run to and fro throughout the whole earth to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him, also sees the tiny sparrow (2 Chronicles 16:9; Matthew 10:29). Despite His greatness, God knows everything down to the smallest detail.

The Bible narrates an incident in Mark 4:35-39 where Jesus spends an entire day by the lake, teaching a large crowd of people about what the kingdom of God was like. He explained how a good seed on good soil becomes a big harvest. He mentioned how the mustard seed — the smallest seed on earth — when planted, grows into a large garden plant with branches big enough for birds to perch in its shade (Mark 4:31-32). By elaborating on how the smallest count in God's kingdom, Jesus set the foundation for a worldwide revival to take off after His resurrection, till His coming again.

Further on in the same chapter, we see Jesus and his disciples cross over to the other side of the lake in the evening. Mark 4:36 reads: 'Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.' That's when the unexpected strikes. A great windstorm sends turbulent waves that not just beat on the boat, but start filling it with water. The disciples panic to find Jesus calmly resting in the stern of the boat. They cry out and wake Him up saying, "Teacher, don’t You care if we drown?”

Jesus commands the waves to "be still". The wind dies down, leaving the disciples amazed at the experience, where even the little boats safely reach the shore. The disciples, who personally witness faith in action, recall Jesus' words: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20) God is mindful of the smallest to accomplish the biggest!

Even today, God reveals Himself to us in our daily lives. He looks for us — His children — knowing we are small, inadequate, and unwise. He wants to keep us close to Him so we could learn His ways better and fulfil His purposes.

Revival is all about a great God doing great things through insignificant people like us, for which Jesus showed the way by being born in the little town of Bethlehem as prophesied in Micah 5:2: 'But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me One who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.'

What we read in 1 Corinthians 1:28-29 resonates with this: 'God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.'

Wherever Jesus taught His word and healed the sick, little children also followed Him. He said, “Let the little children come to me... for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) And He added: “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.” (Luke 9:48)

Whether it was a small seed, a tiny sparrow, or a little boat, Jesus drew more meaning from them than what they would have meant on their own. Even so, with us. We won't be able to go far in life without Him. Only when we are true to the Master's call, we would hear Him say: 'Well done... you have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.' (Matthew 25:21)

Miracles happen when you commit to follow Jesus at any cost, no matter how small you are.

Try to not set your mind on your problems. You can never solve your worries by yourself. Jesus is the One who can help you rise up. Be eager to listen to Him. He will lead you to do the impossible by His mighty power.
