Dear friend, according to Zechariah 10:12, the Lord says, “I will strengthen them in the Lord, and they shall walk up and down in His name.” This verse is similar to Isaiah 40:31, which says, “Those who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength.” Indeed, those who trust in the Lord will walk in His strength and will be upheld by His power.
David, during his time in Ziklag, faced a devastating attack by the enemy. The city was burned to the ground, and his wives, along with the wives and children of his friends, were taken captive. Overwhelmed by this tragedy, David and his companions wept bitterly. In their anguish, David’s friends even considered stoning him. David himself was deeply troubled in his spirit. However, as mentioned in I Samuel 30:6, the Bible says, “David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” David was always walking in the name of the Lord. This is why he could boldly say in Psalm 23:3, “The Lord guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” At every turn, David drew his strength from the Lord and remained anchored in Him.
Similarly, my father, too, walked in the strength of the Lord. Though he is no longer with us, his faith continues to inspire me. When my mother was gravely ill and undergoing treatment, my father was deeply distressed. He had suffered significant financial losses and was struggling financially, and it was during this challenging time that my big wedding was approaching. Relatives questioned him, saying, “How are you going to conduct this wedding?” But my father confidently said with faith, “My Lord will perfect everything concerning me.” In the midst of his distress, my father found strength in the Lord. He is my role model, and I can boldly say, “My father’s God is mine, too.”
Yes, when we walk in the strength of the Lord, He equips us to face and master life’s greatest challenges. He will enable you to walk this life of ups and downs with confidence in His name. And like Apostle Paul, you will also say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” May the Lord enable you to walk in His strength today. You will walk up and down in His name, strengthened and upheld by His power.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength when I feel weak and overwhelmed. Teach me to trust in You completely, just as David did in his darkest times. Strengthen me, Lord, to face the challenges of life with confidence in Your power. When I feel defeated, remind me that You are my anchor and still in control. Help me to walk this life of ups and downs in Your name, believing that You will perfect everything that concerns me and make me rejoice once again. Let me live each day upheld by Your wonder-working power. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
