Friend, it’s the day after Christmas. So how did you celebrate Christmas this year? Did you eat cake? Did you get presents? Yes, apart from the cakes and apart from the presents, the Lord promises us something precious in Colossians 3:15: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” The Lord is going to fill each one of you with His peace. This peace is so important for us to live in this world, because there are so many things happening around us. Every time we open our phone on social media or watch the news, we hear some bad news like people getting assaulted, people committing suicide, and it causes so much anxiety in us. But today the Lord says He is going to fill you with His peace.

Yes, I know that all these things are worrying, but when we are filled with the peace of Christ, the Lord protects us and our families. There is a story of how the Christmas cake was made, and they still do it even now. Many of you would have heard about Thanksgiving dinners celebrated in other parts of the world. Even if families fight during other times, on Thanksgiving Day, they all come together, eat together, and have a good family time. But the next day, they go back to fighting and don’t even talk to their own siblings. Today, the Lord says He is going to fill you with His peace so that you will be united together, not just on Christmas or New Year, but throughout your life, with the peace of Christ.

Sometimes when I watch all these things on the news, I get so worried. It works in the back of my mind all the time. Will Katie be safe when she goes out? Will somebody take Jayden and go away? My parents are living far away; will they be safe? It is very natural for us to be scared and anxious. But I sit down and tell the Lord, “Lord, I’m so anxious. Fill me with Your peace.” And when Jesus does that, He takes care of everything else. When we cast all our burdens on Him, He takes care of everything in our lives. So today, let’s cast all our burdens on Jesus, and He will fill you with His peace.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, today I come to You with all my worries and fears. So many things around me cause anxiety and unrest. But, Lord, You have promised that Your peace will rule my heart. Fill me now with Your perfect peace, Lord, that passeth all understanding. Please protect me and my family, Lord. When my mind is troubled, calm me with Your loving presence. I cast all my burden and my fears at Your feet. Take care of everything that concerns me, Lord. I rest in Your peace today. Amen.
