My dear friend, today we are meditating on Nahum 1:7, "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble." What does this "stronghold" mean? It’s a place of security and survival. When there is a flood warning or a natural disaster, the government may ask us to take shelter in a safe place. In areas where war is common, people often have what’s called a bomb shelter, an iron cabin with a heavy, strong door, usually hidden underground or in a secure part of a building. When danger comes, people run and hide in that shelter. In the same way, the Bible says that the Lord is our stronghold.

We see in Genesis 6 how God warned Noah about the coming flood. God instructed him to build an ark to stay safe. Noah tried to warn the people to turn from their wrong ways and join him. But no one listened. They laughed at him and called him crazy because they couldn’t even imagine a flood. It hadn’t even rained yet! But Noah obeyed God. He was a faithful man who walked with God, and that’s why God chose to keep Noah and his family safe.

In the same way, my friend, when a calamity approaches your life, when trouble or attack is near, run to Jesus. He is your safe place. As humans, we often think, “Oh, this person can help me, they’re influential, they have money, they’ll get me out.” But my friend, God wants us to run to Him first. He is our shelter. He is our stronghold. He will protect us and send the right people to help us. As Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Yes, my friend, He is very present. He is alive today, and He is still our stronghold. Run to Him and be safe. The Bible also says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.” So, run to Him. You will be safe.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, You are my refuge in every storm. When fear surrounds me, You are my peace. In trouble, You are my comfort and stronghold. You are my shelter when all else fails. Please help me run to You first, Lord, and not last. Give me the faith of Noah to obey Your voice. Protect me and guide me in every trial. Let me dwell in the safety of Your love. You are my strong tower, my hiding place. I trust in You completely, now and forever. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
