My precious friend, “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14). This is God’s promise for you today. Sin shall no longer be your master, but Jesus shall be the Lord of your life. He who knew no sin was made sin for us. And the Bible says, where sin abounded, grace abounded even more. As John 1:16 declares, “Because of the perfection of Jesus, the fullness of Jesus, we receive grace upon grace,” which is abounding grace because sin keeps coming. It keeps coming to destroy our faith. It keeps coming to destroy our strength. It keeps coming to take us away from Jesus.
But on the other side, grace keeps coming. The Lord sends His grace and mercy. We are not consumed because of His mercies. His mercies are new every morning. So, every day, God produces mercy for you. Where does this mercy come from? From the mercy seat of Jesus. We can go boldly before that mercy seat and ask God, even for the first time, to show us mercy. And the grace of God comes. It protects us. And we shall no longer be slaves to sin. We become the ‘master’ over sin and its darkness by destroying its power.
When I gave my life to Jesus, I was 18 years old. Jesus washed my sins away with His blood when I asked Him to do so by praying to Him. But after some time, when I would go to college, riding my cycle...When I would see the posters… hear the music in the streets…Oh, the temptations of the world would start coming back into my spirit. They would try to pull my mind away from Jesus and into the lust of the world. And I would cry…“I am weak. Will I fall away?” But at that time, the Holy Spirit would rise up within me. And He would say, “Jesus destroyed the powers of sin, my son.” Praise Him. Praise Him. And the Holy Spirit would make me praise the Lord, speak in a new tongue. The joy of the Lord would fill me. A new spirit would come. And I would say, “You devil bringing the temptations to me, leave me in Jesus’ name!” And the power of God would come and deliver me. Today, you will be delivered. You are under grace. The Holy Spirit will fight for you. Do not be afraid. No longer will sin be your master. Only Jesus shall be the Lord of your life.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your promise that sin shall no longer be my master, for I am not under the law but under grace. I praise You for the abounding grace that comes to my rescue whenever sin tries to destroy me. Your mercies are new every morning, and I come boldly to Your mercy seat today. Wash me, Lord, with Your precious blood, and cover and protect me with Your grace. Let Your Holy Spirit rise within me and fight for me in my weakness. Help me to stand strong, believing that Jesus has destroyed the power of sin. I declare that Jesus alone is the Lord of my life. Fill me with the joy of the Lord, renew my spirit, and let me walk in freedom. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
