Dear friends, today we are going to meditate on Proverbs 14:26: “Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.” What a blessed thing it is to have God as our fortress! We are living in a world of uncertainty, but in God we have sure hope. When we fear God, He gives us hope, and after us, our children also have the same safety. Proverbs 10:9 says, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

Proverbs 20:7 also says, “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.” God loves those who walk in integrity, and the blessings continue from generation to generation. Psalm 103:17 says, “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children.” The Bible also says that if we believe in the Lord, we and our household will be saved. My husband’s parents and my parents have walked in integrity and righteousness. That is why we are blessed today, and after us, our children and grandchildren are also being blessed. 

I would like to share a funny incident that happened earlier. One day, my husband and my husband’s sister were in a car, and my husband was driving. It was a no-moon day, and everywhere it was dark. The road was also black in colour, and there were no road markers in the middle. My husband was driving the car at full speed. He did not see the tar drums that were placed on the road. The drums were also black in colour. Before the drums, some police officers were standing. As he was driving fast, he was about to hit the police officers. He suddenly applied the brakes. The police officers knocked on his window. My husband immediately opened the window and looked at the police officer. The police officer said to him, “Your father is a man of prayer, and you people are trying to hit us and kill us!” Immediately, my husband’s sister, who was sitting beside him, began to speak. She said, “What is this? You have laid a road, and there are no markers on the road. There are no lights on the sides of the road either. Then how can my brother drive safely?”

Immediately, the police officer smiled at them and said, “Because of your father, we are leaving you to go ahead.” He warned them to be careful in the future and sent them away. My husband still tells this story even today, saying, “Because of my father, I was saved that day.” This may be funny to you, but that is the fact. Because my husband’s father was a man of prayer, my husband and his sister were safe that day. Likewise, the Lord will be your secure fortress, and the Lord will be a refuge to your children too.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to fear You and walk in integrity and righteousness all the days of my life. Be my secure fortress and protect me and my family from every danger. Let Your love and righteousness remain upon my children and grandchildren. Just as You protected my husband and his sister through the prayers of his father, let the prayers and righteous lives of parents become a blessing and refuge for their children. Keep our household safe and guide us in Your ways. Let our lives bring glory to Your name and let Your blessings continue from generation to generation. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
