My friend, I want to talk to you about how to receive mercy in your life. God wants you to have mercy. Many times we think, “I have everything, I have all the power, I have all the wisdom.” But there will be a time when you will need mercy. For that, the Lord says in Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy”. If you are merciful, you will be shown mercy. God will show you mercy, your family will show you mercy, your workplace and society will show you mercy, and you will be full of mercy. Mercy is a gift from God. We are not consumed because of the mercy of God (Lamentations 3:22–23). The mercy of God protects us. Yes, He is watching over us night and day. When people gather around and even when the enemy rises up to destroy us, when sin rises within us, God’s mercy is sent. It is also called grace.
Jonah was thrown into the sea because he had disobeyed God. But then a fish was sent by God; it swallowed Jonah totally, yet did not destroy him; that is the mercy of God. In the belly of the fish, as Jonah 2:2 says, Jonah cried out to God. Though he would have been in great distress, the mercy of God came, surrounded him, and protected him. The fish was made by God to bring him to the very place where God had a ministry for him. The rest was history. Because he was shown mercy, he was not consumed, and through him a nation came to God. The same grace comes upon you, the mercy of God, the forgiveness of God, making you a blessing to a nation, to a city. Today, God wants to show mercy to you. According to I John 1:9, let us confess our sins. Confess your sins, and God will be faithful and just to forgive you and purify you from all unrighteousness. May God give you this grace.
According to Ephesians 4:32, the Bible says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Christ forgave you”. Matthew 6:14–15 says, “If you forgive other people, the heavenly Father will forgive you”. Luke 6:37 says, “Do not judge and you will not be judged; forgive, and you will be forgiven”. Yes, let us forgive, for us to be forgiven. And secondly, let us show mercy by giving. Matthew 7:11 reminds us that a loving father gives good things; in the same way, when someone asks, let us give with mercy. Then God will reward us. Matthew 7:12 says, “In everything do to others what you would have others do to you”. Matthew 5:40 says, "If anyone wants your shirt, hand over your coat also. Hebrews 13:16 says, "Do not forget to do good and to share with others”, because with such sacrifices God is pleased. So today, let us give according to Luke 6:38, and we will have mercy come to us.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your great mercy that has preserved me. Teach me to be merciful just as You are merciful. Please forgive my sins as I confess them before You. Cleanse me and purify my heart from all unrighteousness. Help me to forgive others freely and completely. Fill me with compassion, kindness, and grace. Teach me to give generously and joyfully. Let Your mercy protect me and lead my life. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
