Dear friend, may the Lord bless you according to Proverbs 3:33. The Bible says, "The Lord's curse is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous." Many Proverbs speak of good things for the righteous and bad things for the wicked. In Proverbs 13:25, it says, "The righteous eat to their heart's content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry." And again in Proverbs 21:20, the Bible says, "The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down." Even the world recognises that the righteous receive blessings. The Lord exalts the humble and is angry with the proud. As David humbled himself before the Lord, we read in II Samuel 7:8 how God took him from the pasture, from tending flocks, and appointed him ruler over Israel. In II Samuel 7:18, David sat in prayer and said, “Who am I, O Lord, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” The Lord remembered David and his household. He blessed David’s home.
Just like He did with David, the Lord also blessed the house of Obed-Edom in II Samuel 6:11, when the Ark of the Covenant rested there for three months. The Lord also blessed the house of Martha, who always welcomed Jesus. Because she kept her home open for Him, Jesus visited often, and her home became a home, sweet home. God blesses those who live a godly life. Only God can transform a house into a home. He is the One who truly builds a house.
Dear friend, allow God to enter your home, too. Keep His Word in your house, and be humble before Him. Like David, confess your sins, and the Lord will be pleased with you and bless both you and your household. As Acts 16:31 says, “If you believe, you and your household will be saved.” And as God begins to bless your home, you, too, will say like David, “Lord, who am I that You have blessed me? What is my house that You have brought me this far?” The Lord will surely bless you in manifold measure, and your house will become a true home, sweet home.
PRAYER:
Dear loving Father, thank You for Your promise that You will bless the home of the righteous. Lord, I open my heart and my house to You today. Come and dwell with me. Let Your presence transform my house into a home filled with Your peace, love, and blessing. Like David, I humble myself before You. I confess my sins, and I ask that You cleanse me and make me right before You. Just as You blessed the homes of David, Obed-Edom, and Martha, I pray that You will remember my household and shower Your goodness upon us. Let Your Word remain in my home, and let every heart in my house believe in You and be saved. Let my home truly be a home, sweet home. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
