Dear friend, today we are going to meditate on Isaiah 44:3. Here God says, "I will pour water on the thirsty land; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring." What a blessing it is to have God within us from generation after generation. The Bible says, “If you believe, you and your household will be saved”. The Lord is mindful of blessing the entire generation. The Lord puts the Holy Spirit upon us and a blessing upon our generation. For that we have to long for God. That’s how David longs for God, as in Psalm 42:1, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O my God”. In the wilderness, deer run here and there for water; they long for water. Likewise, we have to seek God, saying, “Lord, I need You”. Likewise, we have to thirst for God. That’s what we see in the Bible: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”.
As in John 4:14, Jesus says, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst”. The Lord is mindful of giving us abundance. When God blessed Abraham, the Lord said to him, “I will make you into a great nation, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing”. For us to be a blessing, the Lord wants us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. That’s why He says, “I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh. I’ll not only pour out My Spirit upon you, but upon your sons and daughters, your servants, both men and women”. The streams of water flow upon our generation, not a trickle but life-giving streams. It keeps on flowing, and the Lord makes us as a well-watered garden.
First, the Lord filled my husband’s parents. Then my husband received the Holy Spirit. Then, looking at them, I asked for the Holy Spirit with so much longing in my heart. In answer to my prayer, the Lord filled me also with the Holy Spirit. Then, after me, our children, Sam, Sharon and Sweetie, they also cried out for God’s blessing. Today, they are a blessing, and it continues. The Lord blessed our three little grandchildren also. I could see more grace upon them today. We, the parents, when we long for God, including us, the Lord blesses our children and our children’s children, and we become a blessing to others. When Sweetie used to tell stories on television, one old lady said like this, “Just the appearance of the little daughter brings me so much joy”, she said. That much blessing our children have. Yes, the Lord will pour water on the thirsty land, and He will pour out His Spirit on our offspring and His blessings on our descendants. What a blessing it is, isn’t it? Today, let the grace come upon your offspring and your descendants, too.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, create in me a deep thirst for You that never fades. Let my soul long for You like the deer for streams of water. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit until I overflow with Your presence. Pour Your living water into every dry area of my life. Let Your blessings flow through me to my children and generations. Make my life a well-watered garden that reflects Your glory. Let Your abundance and grace rest upon my household. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.
