My friend, we are going to meditate on today’s promise which is from Proverbs 22:9, “The generous will themselves be blessed.” What a beautiful promise of God! Accordingly, the God Who loves generous people has blessed you. So, continue to be a blessing to others!
Today’s world is all about profits and returns. People spend a lot of time doing their research and finding several things in which they can invest to get maximum returns. If I invest here, maybe I will get returns for life and I can be secure or if I save up some money in this place, I can use it for this future plan. And the list goes on. But when it comes to giving to the poor and the needy or even to the Lord’s Ministry, people hesitate because they say there are no tangible returns and they fear their money would get depleted. But, my friend, even in this day and age, you have diligently sought the Lord. You have given all your time to be a blessing to somebody despite your hard work in the office or leading an Organisation. Perhaps you are a student but you have spent your time to be a blessing to help somebody. You might have dedicated some time sharing with somebody about Jesus. You have been generous! The people of this world might think it is a waste of time and resources. But, according to the Lord, we serve, the GENEROUS will indeed receive the BLESSINGS OF THE LORD! These heavenly returns are much more than anything this world can offer.
In our family, we have experienced these divine returns from the Lord. My family members have shown us how to be generous to people in different ways. Because of that, we are experiencing God’s blessing even unto this generation. My friend, indeed, the generous soul will themselves be blessed! That’s why Jesus shared a parable of a master giving different types of money to his servants. On his return, the master was pleased with the servant who had multiplied the given money and he rewarded him in double measure. Yes, the master took away the money from the servant who did nothing with it and gave it into the hands of the servant who doubled it saying, “You have been faithful in the little things. I will reward you with plenty.” Likewise, my friend, the Lord knows that you have been generous with your time, finances and talents and have utilised them for the blessing of others. You have done well in the eyes of the Lord! He is going to lift you up higher so that you can be a blessing to more people and experience His liberal blessings in return from generation to generation.
PRAYER:
Loving Lord, thank You for teaching me the value of being generous in Your sight. Lord, even as I pray, grant me a generous heart that will give freely and cheerfully without counting the reward. Let nothing in this world hinder me from being generous to the poor and the needy and to Your Ministry. My reward comes from You, the Maker of heaven and earth and I thank You for turning Your eyes on me to bless me. As I dedicate myself to being more generous than I was, I believe that You will bless me and my household much more than we have ever imagined. Thank You, Lord, for Your generosity. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
