My dear friend, today the Lord is speaking to you. What a joy it is to hear the voice of God, and we can receive that voice from the Scriptures in the Bible. In Lamentations 3:24, it says, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” You can see the longing in the person who has written this, “The Lord is my portion”. There is a deep hunger, a deep desire to wait for the Lord alone, not for anything else, but for Him.

I saw a video on social media that spoke so beautifully about waiting. It was a story about a man who went to the army to fight for his nation. His dog had been raised in the house and was used to running all around the home. But after the man left, every single morning, the dog would come and wait on the porch in front of the house. It would lie down and look, waiting to see if he was coming. It did this every day. One day, when the man finally returned and got out of the car after finishing his military work, the dog lifted its head, ran to him, jumped on him, and licked him everywhere. It would not let him go inside the house. The man gave the dog a big bone as a gift.

We, too, my dear friend, should wait for the Lord with such anticipation and such hope. The Lord is coming; Oh, what a joy it will be to see Him! As this verse says, the Lord is our portion. We have chosen Him as our portion, not what He will give us. Not saying, “He will give me this gift, He will do this good thing for me, He will increase me and raise me up.” If we look only for such blessings, they may satisfy us for a moment, but they will keep us longing for more. But when we keep the Lord as our best portion, and wait for Him and receive Him, the fullness of His joy overflows in our hearts. We will not want anything else. We will not need anything else. He Himself will fill our hearts and satisfy us completely. Shall we experience this wonderful blessing of the Lord being our portion?

PRAYER:
Loving Father, You are my portion and my greatest joy. Teach me to wait for You with hope and anticipation. Remove every lesser desire that tries to fill my heart. Let Your presence be enough for me. Fill me with the fullness of Your joy and peace. I choose You above every blessing. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
