ear friend, today we are going to meditate on Luke 8:50, where Jesus says, “Do not be afraid any longer; only believe and trust.” In what context did the Lord say this? When the daughter of Jairus died, Jesus spoke these comforting words: “Just believe and trust, and she will be healed.” Jairus had begged Jesus to come to his home and heal his twelve-year-old daughter, who was dying. But on the way, there seemed to be a delay. Many people surrounded Jesus, and among the crowd, the woman who had suffered with an issue of blood for twelve years was healed. Many others, too would have received healing. By the time Jesus reached Jairus’ house, the little girl had died. Someone from the synagogue official’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead. Do not inconvenience the Teacher anymore.” Many times, dear friend, we too may have heard such words from people around us: “Why are you going to Jesus? Everything in your life is dead. There is no chance for you to receive a miracle. You will never be healed.” You may have heard painful words concerning your family, your health, your future, or your children. But Jesus overheard what was said to Jairus. Jesus not only hears, but He cares. Psalm 139:4 says that even before a word comes out of our tongue, God knows it and is familiar with all our ways.
Though people said, “Do not bother the Teacher anymore,” Jesus still went to Jairus’ home. He stood near the deathbed of the little girl and said, “Talitha koumi,” meaning, “Little girl, arise.” Immediately, the little girl rose up from her deathbed. She came alive, and a mighty miracle happened. Her parents were astonished. The house that was once filled with crying, wailing, and mourning became filled with joy because Jesus entered that home. Dear friend, Jesus is the Life and the Resurrection. If we believe, we will see the glory of God. If we believe in Jesus, we will have life. Therefore, believe in the impossible. Once, while ministering in Nagpur during a morning meeting, the Lord delivered many demon-possessed people. I took pity on mothers who were oppressed by evil spirits and rolling on the ground as the demon powers manifested. During the prayer time, the Lord delivered them all, and I rejoiced in God’s goodness. As I was leaving the ground after the meeting, a lady with an issue of blood suddenly caught hold of my hand and pleaded, “Sister, will you pray for my healing?” There were crowds all around me, and I could barely listen to her. Yet I closed my eyes and prayed for her for just a moment.
The very next evening, that woman came forward and testified. She said, “I could not go near Sister Evangeline and tell her everything, but I believed that if I touched her, I would be healed.” She had suffered with heavy bleeding for many years, but at that very moment, the Lord touched and healed her completely. When I heard her testimony, I was greatly encouraged and praised God for her faith. Dear friend, when we have faith without doubting, miracles happen. When we truly believe that the Lord will touch us, heal us, and do the impossible in our lives, we will receive our miracle. Jesus Himself said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.” That is why He told Jairus, “Do not be afraid any longer. Only believe and trust.” Have faith in Jesus’ ability to heal, restore, and revive every dead situation in your life. Today, as you believe in Him, you too will receive a miracle.
PRAYER:
Loving Heavenly Father, I bring every impossible situation before You today. When fear, doubt, and hopelessness surround me, help me to believe and trust in You. Strengthen my faith to hold on to Your promises without wavering. Speak life into every dead area of my life and bring restoration. Heal my body, mind, family, and future by Your mighty power. Let Your presence remove every sorrow and fill my heart with peace and joy. I believe that nothing is impossible for You, Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
