“When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You who watch over my way.” This is God’s promise found in Psalm 142:3. Our spirit grows faint within us many times, but God watches over our way to strengthen us and take us back into the mission. When the Lord Jesus was praying in Gethsemane, it was the last moment before He went to the cross. His soul was sore afraid and anxious. He was worried about the agony He had to suffer on the cross for the salvation of humanity. Fear gripped His spirit. He felt so faint, so weak, and His sweat came out as blood. He cried, “Oh Lord, Oh Father, let this cup pass away from Me. Please let the cup of death be taken away from Me.” And satan was dancing with joy, saying, “He would never go to the cross. He is so afraid”. My late father, Dhinakaran, saw this in a vision.
But then the Holy Spirit came, the One who comforts us in all our tribulations. According to Romans 8:26, the One who helps us in our weaknesses came upon the Lord Jesus. He showed Jesus the future and said within Him, “Lord Jesus, if You accept God’s will with confidence and accept the cross of Calvary, the Father will give You a great name, a name above every name. You are the life. You are the resurrection. You will rise up.” As the Holy Spirit showed Him the way and comforted Him, the Lord Jesus was strengthened in the moment of His fainting and weakness. Then He said, “Father, not My will, let Thy will be done.” And He stood up and faced His betrayal, faced the high priests who levied false accusations against Him, and faced Pilate who condemned Him to death. He was not afraid. He carried the cross, bore the whips of the Roman soldiers, and bore the pain of the nails.
Finally, He said, “Lord Almighty, into Thy hands I commend My spirit. I have shed My blood for My people. Whoever receives it, accepting My sacrifice, will be washed by My blood and saved from sin.” He said, “It is finished,” and He rose on the third day. He is alive! When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You who watch over my way, Lord. The Bible says in Isaiah 40:29–31 that God gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles. Even today, surrender yourself to the will of God and say, “Let Thy will be done.” The Holy Spirit will strengthen you to face every oppression, tribulation, and temptation. You will be more than a conqueror. God will make you fly high and bring salvation to millions. May this grace come upon you right now in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for encouraging me through Your promise. When my spirit grows faint, watch over my way, Lord. Strengthen me in my moments of fear and weakness. Help me to surrender fully to Your will. Let Your Holy Spirit comfort me and empower me. Renew my strength to rise like an eagle over my circumstances, and help me to face every trial with courage and faith. Let Your will be done in my life. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, Amen.
