Dear friend, as we read in Exodus 14:14, the Lord says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” The Amplified Version explains that we need only to remain silent and calm.  I have seen T-shirts with the words “Be Calm” printed on them. If even worldly people encourage us to remain calm, how much more should the Word of God reassure us! Our confidence in God enables us to remain calm and still. We need not be discouraged or anxious when people fight against us or when unexpected problems surround us. We need not fret or fume. Instead, the Bible says, “You need only to be still.” Be still and know that He is God!

God will fight for you. When a vast army came against King Jehoshaphat of Judah, how did he pray to God? He acknowledged God's power and might and cried out to Him for help, saying, “We have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).

The Lord answered him, saying, “You will not have to fight this battle,” as we read in 2 Chronicles 20:17. He further said, “Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow.” Yes, dear friend, the Lord will fight your battles. All you have to do is stand firm, be still, and witness the deliverance of the Lord.

When the Lord gave this promise, He fought the battle for King Jehoshaphat. The Ammonites and Moabites turned against the people of Mount Seir, and later they destroyed one another. The battle was not Jehoshaphat's but the Lord's! True to His word, the Lord fought the battle for Jehoshaphat. The king and his people fasted and prayed together. They praised and worshipped the Lord, trusting in His power. They went out to face their enemies with confidence, singing praises to God.

As a result, their enemies destroyed one another. When the people went to see the battlefield, they found that their enemies had been defeated. They gathered the plunder, rejoiced, and praised God! When the surrounding kingdoms heard what had happened, they feared the Lord. As verse 29 says, all the kingdoms feared God when they heard how the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. Yes, dear friend, the Lord will contend with those who contend with you, and He will protect your children! What a loving God we have! We must not put our trust in human strength. As David says in Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Yes, trusting in God and having confidence in Him alone will help us overcome every battle. The Lord will take care of everything else. Even today, I know that the Lord is working behind the scenes on your behalf.

King Jehoshaphat did not know what would happen when his enemies came against him. Similarly, when the Israelites stood before the vast Red Sea with the Egyptian army pursuing them from behind, they had no idea what the Lord was about to do for them. They were trapped and could not imagine how God would make a way for them. But the Lord parted the mighty Red Sea and made the Israelites walk on dry ground. In the same way, God will make a way for you where there seems to be no way. Trust Him, remain calm, and witness His mighty deliverance!

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, You are my mighty Warrior and my Helper. Fight every battle in my life and deliver me from all troubles, sicknesses, court cases, and enemies. Contend with those who contend with me and remove every shame and reproach. Grant me victory in every situation and let every verdict be in my favour. Protect me from persecution and let no weapon formed against me prosper. Let every plan raised against me fail, and manifest Your mighty power in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
