My dear ones, today’s promise verse is from Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.” The Lord desires to bless the work of your hands and help you fulfil His purpose. Perhaps you have worked hard for many years, sacrificing your time, strength, and energy, but have not seen the expected results. Do not lose heart. The Lord sees your efforts and knows your heart. He will reward your faithful service in His perfect time and grant you the grace to enjoy His blessings.
Whatever you do, do it for the Lord rather than for people’s approval. Whether you are caring for your family, managing a business, fulfilling your responsibilities, or serving in the ministry, do every task wholeheartedly. Remember that you are using your time, strength, and abilities for God’s glory. Even the smallest task becomes meaningful when you do it for Him. Give the Lord first place in your family, work, and decisions. Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” When you put God first, trust Him to guide you and provide what you need.
Let me share an incident. Once, an elderly, experienced minister and a young man who was new to the ministry were travelling together on a train. The elderly pastor spent his time joking and enjoying conversations with those around him. Meanwhile, the young minister sat nearby, writing in a notebook and repeatedly referring to the Bible. After watching him for some time, the elderly pastor asked, “What are you doing, young man?” The young minister replied, “Tomorrow is Sunday, and I have to preach. I am preparing God’s Word by seeking the Lord in prayer. I must speak His Word and bring His life to the people, mustn’t I?” The elderly pastor laughed and said, “You are preparing so much! The devil is watching everything you write. When you preach, he will know what you are going to say. Look at me! I am happy. When I stand up to speak, even the Lord Himself will not know what I am going to say!”
My dear ones, this incident reminds us never to approach God’s work carelessly or depend solely on our abilities. Those who sincerely serve the Lord seek His guidance and depend on His wisdom. Their desire is to fulfil His purposes rather than their own. Therefore, let us carry out every responsibility prayerfully and faithfully, always seeking to honour Him. Consider Noah in the Bible. When wickedness increased on the earth, God instructed him to build an ark to preserve his family and the living creatures from the coming flood. The Lord gave him specific instructions about its construction and commanded him to bring the animals and birds into it. Noah did not ignore God’s commands or follow his own ideas. He did everything exactly as the Lord had instructed him. When the ark was ready, Noah prepared to enter with his family. Then the Lord brought the animals and birds to him. Noah did not have to search everywhere and gather every creature by his own strength. God accomplished what was beyond his ability.
What a wonderful lesson this teaches us! When the Lord entrusts us with a responsibility, we must do our part faithfully and trust Him with the outcome. Are you working hard in your family, business, workplace, or ministry without seeing the expected results? Do not become discouraged. Seek the Lord every morning, meditate on His Word, and follow His guidance. Complete the work entrusted to you with diligence and integrity. In His perfect time, He can provide the right people, opportunities, resources, and support you need to fulfil His purpose. Just as the Lord brought the creatures to Noah, He is able to provide what you need. However, trust His timing and wisdom rather than expecting everything to happen exactly as you imagine. Our responsibility is to obey His Word and leave the results in His hands. The Bible tells us that the Lord remembered Noah and preserved him and his family in the ark during the flood. Similarly, Psalm 115:12–14 declares that the Lord has been mindful of us and will bless us and our children. After the flood, God blessed Noah and his sons, commanding them to be fruitful and multiply. Their descendants increased and spread throughout the earth.
Therefore, be courageous! Do not give up because your efforts have not yet produced the results you hoped for. Continue to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, putting Him first in everything you do. Like Noah, fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to you and trust God to provide what you need. May He bless the work of your hands, strengthen your family, guide your decisions, and help you accomplish His purposes. May He honour your faithful service and grant you the grace to enjoy His blessings. Amen.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, help me to do everything wholeheartedly for Your glory. Grant me the grace to fulfil Your will with reverence, devotion, and faithfulness. Bless the work of my hands and help me to serve You faithfully in my family, ministry, and business. As You remembered Noah, remember me and my children. Let every blessing, resource, opportunity, and favour appointed for us come at Your perfect time. Meet our physical, spiritual, and financial needs, restore our strength, and grant us honour and peace. Help us to seek Your kingdom first and live according to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
