My dear friend, today's verse is taken from Matthew 2:11, which says, “On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped Him.” Imagine baby Jesus, so small, so gentle, yet even though He was just a child, kings came and bowed before Him in worship. The kings revered Him deeply. They loved Him and respected Him so much. That’s how we should also be, my dear friend.
We should love the Lord with all our hearts, but we should also fear Him and revere Him. When I first read the word revere in the Bible, I was so amazed because it appeared so many times, especially in Psalms and Proverbs. This word ‘revere’ carries a meaning deeper than mere respect. It is a holy awe; a sacred fear mixed with love. We should fear and respect the Lord because He is the God of the universe. When we bow down at His feet and worship Him, the Lord will surely raise us to great heights.
The Bible says in Psalm 113:7–8, “He raises the poor from the dust and seats them with princes, with the princes of His people.” Today, if you are humble and you revere and worship the Lord, He will lift you up to sit among princes and people of honour. Your name will be exalted. So today, my dear friend, let us remember to revere, respect, and love the Lord. When we do so, the Lord Himself will raise us to great heights.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please help me to always revere You and respect You. Teach me to love You with all my heart. And when I do that, I know, Lord, that You will raise me to great heights. You will cause me to sit among princes and people of honour. Lord, I pray for Your wisdom to fill me. Grant me understanding and insight in all that I do. Let everything I say and do bring glory to Your holy name. Thank You, Lord, for Your love and favour upon me. I trust that You will lift me up in due time. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
