My friend, let us discover what God’s promise is for us today. Today is the birthday of the founder of Jesus Calls, Dr. Paul Dhinakaran. I thank God for all the mighty things He has been doing through my father and for the vision with which this ministry has been built. Please remember him in your prayers today.
Now, let’s look at today’s promise from Isaiah 60:14, "All who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the city of the Lord." What a tremendous promise this is! People bowing at our feet and calling us the very city of the Lord Himself. But the first part is not so easy to take; people despising us, hating us, and trying to destroy us. Perhaps today you are facing such people; those who hate you, who want to see you fall, who knock at your door and threaten you. Your heart may feel broken, weighed down with fear. But, my friend, God has given us a promise for such a time as this. When my grandfather started the ministry of Jesus Calls, prayerfully walking in the ways the Lord led him, there was a man who constantly wrote against him. In his magazine, he opposed every single thing my grandfather was doing, against the vision God had given him, against the plans God had placed in his heart, and against every ministry he had built. Surely, this must have hurt my grandfather’s heart deeply. Yet, he never replied. Instead, he went and hid himself in the Lord, weeping before Him, "Am I not serving You, Lord? Am I not obeying You, Lord? Why are men rising against me, speaking against me?"
At such moments, all we need to do is hide ourselves in the Lord, my friend. And what happened? The Lord lifted my grandfather to a high stature, making him a blessing to millions and surrounding him with their love, so much love in his life. One day, that very man who had written against him came and apologised, asking for forgiveness. You see, the greatest fear of such people is not destruction upon themselves for the evil they do; it is seeing you rise higher. That is what they dread the most. And this is exactly what the Lord promises: He will lift you up, make you His city, and even your enemies will bow at your feet.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your unfailing promise that even those who despise me will one day bow before me and acknowledge that I am Yours. Lord, when people hate me, threaten me, or try to bring me down, help me to hide myself in You and not be shaken. Lift me up, Lord, and make me a testimony of Your love and glory. Let every plan of the enemy fail, and let my life shine as the ‘city of the Lord’, bringing honour to Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
