My friend, today, when I read this verse, I was reminded of my grandmother. The Bible says in Psalm 139:5, “You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me.” Yes, how many of you know the meaning of hemming? Hemming means they fold the clothes, they stitch it, and they write, or they draw something on it. My grandmother used to do this, and on almost all of my clothes she used to draw my initial on them. Whenever I see it, maybe my handkerchief or my t-shirts, I used to think, “Oh, this belongs to me.”
Yes, today the Lord says that He is going to hem you in behind and before, and He is going to lay His hand upon you. That means the Lord’s initials are going to be engraved on you. He is going to cover you, fold you, and He is going to draw His initials on you. The Bible says in Isaiah 43:1, “I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.” Yes, you are the Lord’s.
You might be all alone in this world. Your parents might have abandoned you, your own family members might have abandoned you, but the Lord promises that He is with you. He says, “Don’t worry, my dear child, you are Mine. You are mine!” Yes, the Lord loves you. To experience this love, what should we do? Let’s give our lives to Christ wholeheartedly. Let’s ask Jesus to lead our lives every day.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for hemming me in behind and before. Lay Your hand upon me and seal me as Your own. Help me to always remember that I belong to You. Write Your name upon my life and cover me with Your presence. I surrender my life to You wholeheartedly. Lead me and guide me every day, Lord Jesus. Let my life reflect that I am Yours. Thank You for calling me by name. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
