Dear friends, today we have a wonderful promise verse from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Yes, with Christ, we can do everything. In the previous verse, Paul says, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.” He says, “I have learned the secret of being content.” In other words, he had learned to be satisfied in all situations. In verse 11 also, he says, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” In every situation, the Lord gives us His strength to do everything, and that is what we see in Proverbs 30:8–9.

Here Solomon says, “Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.” In short, he says, “Let me not be poor nor rich. Lord, give me the strength to go forward. Let me not have too much. Let me not have less, but Lord, give me a heart of contentment.” Some are so greedy to have more always. They may have more, but if you ask them, “What do you need?” they will say, “I need more.” Yes, David also had several wives, but still he was not satisfied. He looked at the beauty of Bathsheba, the wife of another man, and he had sex with her. Because of that, he lied and murdered her husband. That led him to sin more.

Dear friends, we may also be craving for more things in our lives. But let us ask God for forgiveness today. “Take away my fleshly desires, O God. Fill me with Your Spirit, with the Spirit of purity, and give me a heart of contentment, O God.” With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. That is what the Bible says: “The mind governed by the flesh is death.” Even today, let us cry out to God for Him to control our minds. Let us not walk according to the flesh. Let us ask God for strength to walk by His Spirit. Then He will give us a heart of contentment. With the help of God, we can do all things. Even today, I know the Lord will control our minds with His Spirit, and He will enable us to do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

PRAYER:
Loving Lord Jesus, help Your children to walk by Your Spirit. Remove worldly and fleshly desires, greed, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Control their minds and take away every temptation. Let every voice that is not from You leave them in Jesus’ name. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and give them a heart of contentment. Lead the man and woman of every family by Your Spirit and bring peace, joy, and unity into their homes. Help them not to crave worldly things, but to be satisfied with Your goodness. Hold their hands, lead them, and help them hear Your voice always. Enable them to say, “I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
