Dear friend, today, as we read Luke 12:32, the Lord says, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” The first thing the Lord commands us is, “Do not be afraid.” He reveals Himself as our Father, a Father who is full of love. His perfect love casts out fear.
He lovingly calls us “little flock.” We, the children of God, are like sheep to Him. A little sheep faithfully follows its shepherd. Likewise, Jesus says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life.” Yes, the Lord promises to give us eternal life—the kingdom of heaven.
The Lord withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity. He is pleased to give His children good gifts from heaven. In Luke 12, Jesus tells us not to worry about what we will eat, what we will drink, or what we will wear. We need not be anxious about worldly things because He is the One who provides. The Lord supplies all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
When we seek God first, all these things will be added to our lives. That is why Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven. Keep looking above and not beneath. Keep seeking Him, and let Him take care of the other things.
It always pleases God to give us His kingdom. What is the kingdom of God? It is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. God desires His children to live righteously, experience His peace, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the blessing of His kingdom.
Our Lord is a rewarder. We may be thinking about our future in this world, but God is concerned about the things of heaven. He desires to give His children the kingdom of God. He has no obligation to do so, yet He is pleased to give us the kingdom of heaven. The Lord delights in blessing us, and He delights to come and live in us.
A dear sister once gave me a huge cup which said, “Put God First.” Seeking God is truly precious. Even today, will you ask God to help you enter and experience His kingdom?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me Your little flock. Remove every fear, anxiety, anger, and bitterness from my heart. Help me seek You first and trust You for every need. Fill me with righteousness, peace, joy, and Your Holy Spirit. Let Your gentle hand touch those who are sorrowful and anxious, and tenderly embrace them. Cleanse me from everything that displeases You and make me worthy to enter Your kingdom. Lord, as You are coming quickly, prepare Your children to meet You. Let us experience Your kingdom even here on earth. I pronounce Your peace over every life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
