Dear friend, today we have a beautiful promise from the Lord, and He is ready to bless us just as He has said. Isaiah 32:15 says, “Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.” What a glorious transformation this verse describes! In times of drought, the ground is dry, cracked, and lifeless. Every plant is scorched and gone. But when the rains pour down, the land is refreshed, and suddenly, everything turns green again. This is exactly what the outpouring of the Holy Spirit does in our lives. The Spirit turns barren hearts into fruitful gardens and deserts into flourishing forests.
Why does the Lord pour His Spirit upon us from on high? It is to change every heart, to revive every soul, and to fill us with the joy of His presence. It’s not something we can earn; it is purely the work of God. As Paul says in Acts 3:19, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” And Joel 2:13 reminds us, “Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in kindness.” When we repent, the Holy Spirit comes. He forgives, refreshes, and removes burdens. The wilderness of our hearts becomes a fruitful field, and our troubled lives are turned into quiet resting places.
I experienced this personally. In my early days, just after I was newly married, I attended the Jesus Calls Power Ministry meeting in Coimbatore, India. Many around me were receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit, but I did not. I waited patiently, longing for the next opportunity. A year later, I attended another meeting. This time, I truly repented, cried out to God with all my heart, and asked, “Lord, how can I be used by Your hand without receiving the Holy Spirit?” The next morning, God graciously filled me. My heart changed. My life was transformed. And today, I am what I am because of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord do the same for you. May He fill you with His Spirit and turn all your wilderness into a fertile land.
PRAYER:
Dear loving Father, I thank You for Your loving promise. I long for Your Holy Spirit to be poured upon me from on high. My heart has known wilderness, dryness, and weariness for years. But I believe that You can transform me into a fruitful garden. I repent of all my sins and return to You, Lord, trusting in Your mercy and kindness. Please pour out Your Holy Spirit upon me. Refresh me. Renew me. Change me. Let Your power fill every corner of my life and bear good fruits for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
