Dear friend, what a pleasure and privilege it is to spend time with the Lord. His presence fills us with such joy. Even today, in His presence, He speaks to us from Isaiah 57:15, “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit.” What a beautiful verse!
People might say, “Oh, Jesus lives with big people.” But no, my friend, He does not live with big people alone. He makes people big! That’s who Jesus is. In fact, He left the glory of heaven above to come into this world, to give Himself for man, to be with man, to help him, and to release him from the bondage of sin. He came to be with those who are lowly in spirit, those who are contrite in heart, those who are repenting and saying, “I’m a sinner, Lord.” That’s why Jesus told the story of two men. A Pharisee, who was like a priest, stood beside a tax collector who was a sinner. The Pharisee prayed proudly, “Lord, I’m not like this sinner, the tax collector. I am a righteous person. Bless me.” But the tax collector prayed humbly, beating his chest before all and saying, “Lord, I’m a sinner. Forgive me. Save me. Show me mercy.”
And Jesus said it was the prayer of that humble man, the one who repented as a sinner, that reached the heart of God. Truly, He comes to help those who are lowly in spirit, those who repent and are contrite in heart. Today, God will listen to your precious prayer, bring you out of sin, and lift you up.
PRAYER:
Loving Lord, thank You for being the God who dwells not only in the high and holy place but also with the lowly in spirit and the contrite in heart. Lord, even now, I come before You like that humble tax collector, admitting my need. Please show me mercy, Lord, and forgive me of my sins and rescue me, for You are my Saviour. Let my life always shine with Your presence and love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
