Dear brothers and sisters, The Bible says in Proverbs 13:9, “The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.” God desires His children to shine brightly in this world.
When my son was studying in the 10th standard, I told him, “Study well and score good marks—not just for your own success, but to honor God and glorify His name. Stand right with God, and His glory will rest upon you. Then He will bless you and make you prosper in your studies.” My son obeyed. Every day before studying, he read God's Word and prayed. After completing his examinations, he said to me, “Mommy, as I honored God, the Lord has honored me.” The Lord blessed him with excellent marks in his 10th standard examinations.
The Bible says in Proverbs 4:18, “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” When we keep our eyes fixed on God, we will never go down. Instead, we will rise and shine for His glory. Jesus Calls those who believe in Him “the light of the world.” Those who are united with the Lord reflect His light. In Acts 17:6, people said about the Apostle Paul and his companions, “These men have turned the world upside down.”
My dear friends, God has called you also to change the world. Our daughter Sharon often says, “I am going to change the world.” How can we truly change the world? Only by reflecting God's truth through our words, our actions, and our integrity. The world is watching us—especially those who call themselves God's children. They observe how we speak, how we behave, and how we live.
Jesus Himself is our perfect example. Though He was mighty in word and deed, He constantly sought His Heavenly Father. He prayed early in the morning, during the day, in the evening, and even through the night. He continually depended on God so that He could live a righteous life and fulfill His Father's will. Think about a sunflower. Every morning it turns toward the rising sun, and throughout the day it follows the sun until evening. By continually facing the sun, it receives the energy it needs to grow strong and beautiful. In the same way, we must look to God every day through prayer and His Word. The Apostle Paul says in Colossians 1:29, “To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” Likewise, Psalm 34:5 declares, “Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Those who continually look to the Lord will shine brighter and brighter.
You are the light of the world. May the Lord cause your light to shine more brightly with each passing day, so that your good works will be seen by everyone around you and they will glorify your Heavenly Father. May your life reflect the light of Jesus. Just as my son testified, “As I honored God, the Lord honored me,” may the Lord also honor you. May His glory rest upon your life and may He reward your faithfulness.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to be the light of the world. Help me to walk in righteousness and honor You in every area of my life. Let my words, actions, and character reflect Your glory each day. Teach me to seek You faithfully through prayer and Your Word, just as Jesus did. Strengthen me with Your mighty power and help me to shine brighter wherever You have placed me. Bless my studies, career, work, and every effort of my hands. Honor my faithfulness as You honored those who trusted in You. Let many see Your goodness through my life and glorify Your holy name. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray. Amen.
